Ministering to Neurodiverse and Special Needs Children in the Church
Welcome to Rotation.org's special menu of resources for Ministering to NeuroDiverse and Special Needs Kids in the Church
Go to our Ministering to Neurodiverse and Special Needs Kids forum
The forum includes discussion topics, suggestions, and resources for welcoming, engaging, and teaching "neurodiverse" and "special needs" children and youth in the church, especially in Sunday School.
The forum features the video recording of Rotation.org's Zoom Seminar with special needs expert, Dena Kitchens.
Other topics in the forum include:
- Create a Welcoming Classroom for NeuroDiverse Students
- Using "Fidgets" to Help Children Focus in Sunday School and Worship Settings
- "Blessed Children" Poem, Helpful Graphics, Teacher Training About Kids with Special Needs
The phrase "neurodiverse" encompasses a wide range of "differences" in the way people perceive and interact with the world. It includes those with learning disabilities, autism, Asperger's, bipolar and personality disorders, depression, and anxiety -- to name a few. This forum also includes ideas and resources for ministering to atypical kids, the socially awkward, and those with physical, emotional, medical, and identity challenges. Why? Because the thing ALL "atypical" kids need most the most is acceptance, inclusion, accommodation, and love -- regardless of the challenges they face.
