Nailing the 95 Theses to the Wittenberg Door ~ A Lesson Idea:

Find an old wood door (or make one out of plywood) and have students name slips of paper on which they've written "things the Church and Christians could do better."

Discuss and refine the suggestions before nailing them to the door. A teacher might write them so they are legible.


It seems almost required to get some old doors and mount them somewhere so kids can NAIL their 95 Theses to them. Describe and teach it as "the place we post our suggestions for change." I'd go for the complete hammer and nail approach.

Here I Stand Martin Luther lesson for childrenI've always been impressed with Luther's famous line: "Here I stand, God help me."

But stand for "what" ??

And stand "how"?

How about creating a display featuring different kinds of SHOES, each with the caption that pertains to where people are likely to wear those shoes.

"I stand for God on the soccer field by the way I treat and talk about others."

"I stand for God in my ballet shoes by the way I thank God for the joy of dance."

"I stand for God in my sandals, when I .....

Surgery booties, firefighter's boot, high heels, dress shoes, basketball shoes, baby shoes, work books
