I love Philip Yancey's quote in What's So Amazing about Grace? It reinforces much of the discussion above about grace and reckless love:

"Grace means there is nothing we can do to make God love us more . And grace means there is nothing we can do to make God love us less."

I have offered that simple to say, hard to believe quote to my Sunday school classes every time I have led a lesson on the prodigal son, and the kids seem amazed by that statement! Its not the way they see things. I remind them that it is, I believe, the way God sees them and me.
