This topic is for posting both Art and Music Workshop Lessons and Ideas for Psalm 8.

When I look at your heavens,
the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars that you have established;
what are human beings
that you are mindful of them,
Mortals that you care for them?
Yet you have made them a little lower than God,
and crowned them with glory and honor.

In addition to the public lesson and ideas posted below, you do not want to miss the Writing Team's exceptional set of lessons on Psalm 8 ~ "When I look at your heavens."  This super creative and detailed set of lessons includes a "Starry Starry Night" Art Workshop lesson plan, and a Video-Music Workshop lesson plan. Everyone can see the lesson summaries and Bible background.

Art Project:

Single layer strips of colored tissue paper decoupaged onto plastic jar using Extreme Glitter Mod Podge using small paint brushes.  Small plastic sequin "stars" glued on with "Tacky Glue" and Psalm 8 phrase written with white pen afterward (could have written on tissue paper with a permanent marker then decoupaged).  We found it easiest to glue a construction paper moon over the tissue paper and Mod Podge. Finish by adding a layer of Mod Podge over the entire jar.

It dried to the touch in about 10 minutes after being put aside. Dried to a hard sheen within 12 hours. Notice the "gold" tissue paper representing the "crown" in v5. This project uses "the work of your fingers" a lot   In these photos the glitter coating doesn't stand out.

The Rotation.org Writing Team wrote a Sunday School lesson to go along with these two videos.

You can find them in the Team's Psalm 8 ~ Music Video Workshop

'Cause when I look to the sky, something tells me you're here with me
And you make everything alright
And when I feel like I'm lost, something tells me you're here with me
And I can always find my way when you are here

After sharing and discussing the song/video, pick a lyric from the song and illustrate it.

Early in the morning
I will celebrate the light
When I stumble in the darkness (I will call Your name by night)
I will call Your name by night

God of wonders beyond our galaxy
You are holy, holy
The universe declares Your majesty
You are holy, holy
Lord of heaven and earth
